2014 Ram 1500

2014 Ram 1500

Standing tall and proud the 2014 Ram 1500 features dual exhaust and many other exterior enhancements that give this truck a very masculine look. The all-new for 2014 turbo-diesel V6 engine is a major innovative leap for Ram. In fact, there has not been a diesel engine option for a half ton truck in 15 years. Cummins did not have an available engine this size, so Fiat is the producer of this clean Ecodiesel engine that delivers amazing torque and excellent fuel economy. For years the Ram 1500 has received excellent reviews on its upscale interiors. The 2014 model takes it up a notch with enhancements throughout the cabin offering even more refinements inside. In fact, the UConnect infotainment system offered on the upper trim levels, is just as good, if not even better than Chevy MyLink. Providing more ground clearance than the Sierra, the Ram is more capable for off-roading than the Sierra. Storing has never been easier from cargo to electronics, there is literally a place for everything in this truck! One drawback is the fact that there isn’t a turbo charged V6 engine option. On the other hand, Ram offers all models with the latest and greatest 8-speed automatic transmission. Chrysler is not playing around when it comes to the Ram 1500 and there has been a lot of money invested into making this truck a leader in innovation for many years running.

2014 GMC Sierra 1500

New and improved for 2014, the GMC Sierra 1500 offers bold exterior styling and a refined luxurious interior. The new engine line-up offered by GMC features fuel efficient, cylinder-deactivating, direct injected and variable valve timing engine options. One problem with the Sierra is that it looks too much like its sister the Silverado. In fact, inside the cabin, virtually the only difference is the badge on the steering wheel. Exteriorly, there are some styling enhancements that give the Sierra a more premium look than the Silverado. While riding low to the ground, the Sierra is easy to step in and out of; however, the lowered height reduces ground clearance which could be problematic for off-roading. Cleverly designed, the built-in corner bumper step is a really nice feature that makes it easy to climb in and out of the truck bed. The Chevy MyLink connectivity system is available and is one of the better infotainment systems offered. It is a shame that the Sierra is not offered in a Denali trim level, as a hybrid or with a diesel engine. Nevertheless, the new and improved Sierra 1500 could arguably be the best truck on the road; that is until you take a look at the refreshed 2014 Ram 1500.

And The Winner Is…

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out who is going to win this head to head competition. By all rights the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the better vehicle. Offering twice the towing capability and dramatically better off-road performance, this SUV is definitely equipped for all terrains and all weather. It’s not every day that the bigger, tougher and more capable SUV can match the best in class fuel economy offered by the competition and that credit goes to the diesel engine option. These capabilities do not come cheaply, and the price of the Grand Cherokee reflects that. It’s all about what you as the consumer really needs. If you do not plan on doing any serious off-roading or hauling heavy loads, then the Ford Edge may suit all your needs perfectly with a price that also suits the needs of your budget. Keep in mind, the Ford Edge is one of the bigger and brawnier SUVs in its class without the high sticker price of the Grand Cherokee. If you are looking for fantastic deals on a 2014 Ford Edge or a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, be sure to check out New Car Sell Off first, where you will find amazing deals on both these models.
